Miguel Cruz, identified as the murderer of Minister Mera by the authorities of the Dominican Republic, hid in a parish near the Ministry where the incident occurred.
The Dominican Republic Police arrested Miguel Cruz on Monday, June 6, who is identified as the main suspect in the murder of the Minister of the Environment, Orlando Jorge Mera.
Apparently Cruz, after shooting his childhood friend several times, left his office and hid in the Jesuscristo Sumo y Eterno Sacerdote church, located almost 2.4 kilometers from the incident.
After several hours, the man left the temple and turned himself in to the authorities through the intermediary of the parish priest while several people shouted insults at him.
The authorities at the moment have not explained how the alleged murderer was able to flee from the ministry nor have they given information about the circumstances in which he turned himself in to the police officers.
According to some media, the reason that would have led Cruz to murder Minister Mera would be a series of alleged permits that the alleged aggressor wanted to be approved but that the head of the Environment office did not do.
Witnesses say that after Cruz entered Mera’s office and the shots were heard, the people left the place; which would explain how he left the Ministry.
