The Police reported today that six people are under arrest for investigation in relation to the murder of Captain William Méndez Ramírez, which occurred at dawn yesterday in the Las Cañitas neighborhood.
Colonel Diego Pesqueira, spokesman for policesaid that Captain Méndez Ramírez, 54, was not on duty during the incident that occurred in front of his mother’s house.
He specified that the investigation is well advanced and that two 380-caliber shell casings were found at the scene.

Captain Méndez Ramírez was found by the authorities on the steps of the Sánchez alley, in front of house number 43 in the aforementioned sector.
His assailants took his regulation weapon and a cell phone.
He had a law degree, lived in the same area where he was killed and was not on duty at the time of the attack.

In recent days there has been an increase in criminal acts in Las Cañitas and other sectors in the northern part of the capital such as Guachupita and Los Guandules.
Crime recently led the Police to intervene in the Guachupita neighborhood, because members of a criminal gang spread terror in the area.
