The Police found 101 kilos of drugs that are presumed to correspond to cocaine and were hidden in tubs buried in a house in Colonia Nicolich, in Canelones. In the place there were also several marijuana plants and cannabis buds.
The police operation was carried out by the General Directorate for the Suppression of Illicit Drug Trafficking, reported Telemundo and confirmed to The Observer Interior Ministry sources. It included four raids, three in Canelones and one in Montevideo, and left seven detainees: six men and one woman.
The leader of the gang has not yet been found.. In addition to drugs, money, weapons and motorcycles were seized.
This modality of hiding the drug in tubs —although not buried— had already been seen in a seizure in maywhen the Prefecture seized in the port of Montevideo drug that was hidden in two tubs who were preparing to leave the country.
