The Police cleared the Ichilo bridge this Tuesdayon the new highway to Cochabamba, reestablishing vehicular traffic after nine days of blockade by sectors related to former president Evo Morales.

The operation began around 1:00 in the morning, when a contingent of about 700 troops left the Police Basic School in Santa Cruz to free the road at 6:00 in the morning. However, clashes did not take long to arise.

The blockades, who had installed the measure since last week demanding to “protect Evo” and other demands, regrouped in the town of Bulo Bulo to resist the intervention. In this area, there are recorded Clashes between the population and police officerswith the use of stones and firecrackers to try to repel the advance of law enforcement.

The Police, equipped with anti-riot agentscontinues to face resistance from protesters in Bulo Bulo, while they remove the stones and wood placed on the road to allow the passage of trucks and tankers that have been stranded for days.

In addition to the unblocking on the Ichilo bridge, other protest points were cleared, such as in Santa Rosa del Saraalthough conflicts persist on the Cochabamba side of the route and in other areas of the country, where nearly twenty blockades are still active.

Police authorities have confirmed that will continue with unlocking actions to ensure normal traffic on the roads during this day.
