The Nicaraguan sociologist, economist and political analyst Óscar René Vargas was detained by police agents responding to the orders of the Daniel Ortega regime. Vargas was at his house in Managua.
According to information from the digital media 100% Noticias, the 77-year-old critic of the dictatorship was captured where he was secretly residing in Nicaragua after returning from exile in Costa Rica. Vargas has heart problems and a pacemaker was placed just seven months ago.
The expert only gave interviews by telephone and without exposing himself to the cameras as a security measure to avoid being found by the Ortega-Murillo regime.
Currently, Oscar René Vargas, the same person who, together with his brother, risked his life to save Daniel Ortega from extreme danger during the time of the fight against the dictator Somoza, had taken refuge in Costa Rica after becoming an opponent of Ortega and now he is Ortega’s new political prisoner.
