Police continue inside the Episcopal Curia of Matagalpa, lawyer Yader Morazán denounces

The specialist in administration of justice Yader Morazán denounced that the Episcopal Curia of Matagalpa continues to be occupied by the Police of the Ortega regime. At the headquarters, according to the lawyer, there are about six uniformed men living inside the place, who are in charge of questioning three priests who take turns guarding the episcopal palace.

“Apart from the kidnapped priests, the Curia also continues to be taken over by the Police, despite the fact that the accusations do not correspond to the Organized Crime Law, which is the only law that protects occupations in criminal matters, what do the leaders of the church?” he questioned.

Morazán indicated that the Episcopal Curia “is not owned by Monsignor Rolando Álvarez and company, nor is there a relationship between the crime “investigated” with the property occupied. In addition, they have already removed the computers and documents that are part of the searches, therefore, the seizure does not make any legal sense.

The lawyer affirms that within the Curia «there are about 6 policemen living inside the Curia, watching over the 3 parents who take turns to take care of it. Themselves who they interrogate every time they enter and leave. Monsignor Óscar (Escoto, vicar general of the Diocese of Matagalpa) is followed everywhere by a motorized vehicle and when he celebrates mass he is infiltrated by 2 or 3 people».

On Friday, August 19, the dictatorship abducted Monsignor Rolando Álvarez along with eight people who had remained inside the episcopal see since August 4. The other religious who accompanied the Catholic leader were transferred to the cells of the Directorate of Judicial Assistance in Managua, while the bishop was deprived of his liberty in his house.

Morazán recently reported that the seven people were imposed the «90 days to “complement” investigative acts, under one of Ortega’s new laws. For its part, the Prosecutor’s Office did not argue the reasons why they need more time to complete investigative acts, nor what evidence supports the initial investigative acts that need to be complemented. And the judge didn’t even care to ask!

Since 2018 there have been more than 190 attacks against the Catholic Church, its bishops, priests, faithful and temples, under the shadow of the Daniel Ortega dictatorship. In addition, the regime has repeatedly insulted Catholic bishops and priests, calling them “devils in cassocks, terrorists and coup plotters.”
