Cardinal Mario Poli asked this morning “that we find the peace and the necessary help to unite as a people”, while presiding over the mass of the youth pilgrimage to Luján in Belgrano Square in front of the Basilica of that city of Buenos Aires.
“How nice to feel on the road as brothers, as a pilgrim, fraternal, supportive people, how we would like this fraternal force to be projected on Argentina”, said the Archbishop of Buenos Aires in Luján.
With the motto “Mother, look at us with tenderness, we want to unite as a people,” the first pilgrims began the walk on Friday from the sanctuary of San Cayetano, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Linier, to the national sanctuary of Our Lady of Luján.
This Saturday at 10, before a crowd of faithfulthe auxiliary bishop of Buenos Aires, Monsignor Juan Carlos Ares, imparted the blessing to the pilgrims who arrived from different parts of the country.
This morning at 7 o’clock began the mass presided over by Poli, where they also asked to pray “for our rulers, so that they seek to be an instrument of encounter among all Argentines.”
This year the diocese of Morón was in charge of moving the religious image along the road.
The Youth Pilgrimage to Luján is a massive and traditional religious event where believers renew “the Marian faith of the Argentine people” and walk “into the arms of the Mother of Luján with their own intentions, those of their families, their friends and those of the country”.
The Archdiocesan Piety Commission had 6,500 volunteers to collaborate with 40 support posts and 60 health posts (identified with signs along the route), with the aim that each pilgrim walk comfortably and safely.
The faithful had an interactive map with the location of health and support posts, from the website www.peregrinacionlujan.org.ar and through the networks @LaPereLujan.
The Argentine Catholic Information Agency (AICA) recalled that from Instagram and #LaPereLuján intentions can be left, which are available at the link https://padlet.com/LaPereLujan/qwv2vkuye6qpiqhe.
