Santo Domingo.- The National Police arrested a lieutenant colonel of the Army of the Dominican Republic accused of causing the death of a woman by gunshot wound, in an event that occurred yesterday in the Mirador Sur sector.
This is Samuel Elías Céspedes Valdez, 43 years old, who is in police custody while the investigations of the case, registered in the vicinity of Freddy Beras Goico Street, former Avenida de la Salud, continue.
The victim was identified as Licairis Yalibes Díaz Valenzuela, 25 years old, who died as a result of a gunshot, according to the medical examiner’s report.
At the scene, Scientific Police agents collected ballistic evidence, including a shell casing and a 9 millimeter caliber capsule, as well as several electronic devices. A 9mm caliber pistol, voluntarily handed over to the authorities, was also seized.
The body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), while the officer will be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry in the next few hours.
Authorities indicated that they will provide more details as the investigation progresses.
