The Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) and the Military Police today (21) operation to fulfill 24 arrest warrants against suspected involvement with an organization specializing in the sale of illicit drugs in the north of the state. Operation Asepsis V also fulfills a warrant for the arrest of a teenager and 27 search and seizure warrants.
According to the MPRJ, the group is suspected of working in the drug trade in the cities of Santo Antônio de Pádua, Aperibé and Itaocara, in northwest Rio de Janeiro.
The targets are investigated for crimes of trafficking and criminal association, as well as torture against people who did not pay their debts to the group.
Some of those investigated, according to the MPRJ, were planning to run away from other criminals because they had lost drug loads and were unable to pay for the damage caused to suppliers.
The other four phases of Operation Asepsis resulted in the arrest of more than 58 people suspected of selling drugs in the region, many already convicted.
