At a press conference, Colonel PNP Franco Moreno Panta, head of a specialized division of the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri), admitted that the inclusion of Juan Antonio García Flores in the list of extortionists was a mistake.
“He was initially a aggrieved, he owns a company. So, there has been a material error,” said Moreno Panta.
Another of those mentioned in the list presented by Minister Santiváñez is Carlos Martín Luna Victoria Santillán, serene of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, who was indicated on open television as “Kalito”, alleged member of a network of extortionists.
Like García Flores, Luna Victoria Santillán has rejected his inclusion in the list and has sent a notarial letter to the minister demanding public rectification.
“In this regard, I must indicate that I am a proud serene of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima. Every day I face crime and contribute to my work to exterminate these scourges that do so much damage to Peru,” he wrote in his letter.
Despite Luna Victoria Santillán, Colonel Moreno Panta has not confirmed whether it is another error, arguing that the police “have a very reserved line of work” and that they expect the collaboration of citizenship to clarify the facts. He also noted that the investigation into all the people shown by the minister is still ongoing.
