PNP justifies arbitrary detention of Iván Quispe Palomino and does not admit error: "We support Santiváñez"

The National Police of Peru issued a statement to express its support for the Minister of the Interior, Juan Santiváñezwho has been questioned by the wrong capture of Ivan Quispe Palomino, whom he falsely called number two in command of the Militarized Communist Party of Peru (MPCP), composed of remnants of Luminous Pathbut he was released last Friday after two days of having remained unjustly detained.

“The Command of the National Police of Peruexpresses his support for the doctor Juan José Santiváñez Antúnez, head of the Ministry of the Interior who has been leading a frontal fight against crime and organized crime, highlighting that this year we have placed 61,223 people with requirements at the disposal of the authorities, being the Public Ministry and the Judiciary who determine the legal situation of all those intervened and placed at the disposal of justice. We continue in the fight against crime and criminality by carrying out permanent operations to guarantee the security of all Peruvians,” says the publication of the PNP.

The Ministry of the Interior has not yet commented on the matter, but they have deleted the post from their social networks where they announced the capture of Iván Quispe Palomino as if it had been the capture of the century.

Relatives will denounce Minister Santiváñez

The relatives of Iván Quispe Palomino have announced their intentionto denounce the Minister of the Interior,Juan José Santiváñezas well as all those involved in the arrest and accusations of an allegedPalomino’s connection with the terrorist group Sendero Luminoso.According to Pamela Mayta, a relative of the detainee, both Iván and his loved ones have suffered psychological damage due to the actions of the Ministry of the Interior (Mininter).

“To the minister and the two police officers and all the people who are linked and who have said things that are not true. We have minors. My sister is psychologically unwell. Being a minor can cause bullying problems at school,” he mentioned to Successful.

This information was confirmed by himself. Iván Quispe Palomino, who upon his release from detention for more than 48 hours due to a confusion on the part of the National Police and the Ministry of the Interior, said that they were in talks with his lawyer to send a complaint for this impact on his family and himself.

Iván Quispe Palomino was a victim of homonymy

According to statements from his lawyer, Iván ended up being detained because the police confused his identity with that of another person. They would not have taken the time to rule out the homonymy and would have only gone on to arrest and make it public.
