The National Police of Peru (PNP) intervened to two Colombian topographswho were making measurements to the Chinería Island Land. This occurs after a presidential candidate placed a Colombian flag in Peruvian territory, generating greater tension between the two countries by the alleged dispute of the sovereignty of what would be the Santa Rosa Islanda territory attached to the Chinería Islandbelonging to Loreto, Peru.

According to police statement, the two foreign citizens were doing demarcation and registration of points with satellite GPS, doing work for a construction company, when they were surprised aboard a yacht within Peruvian jurisdiction.
The intervention was carried out by a team of twenty agents and was developed in the waters near the port of Santa Rosa. Both individuals were transferred to the local police station, where they were informed that any activity in Peruvian territory must be coordinated with the authorities, even in areas of free transit for residents.
