The general commander of the National Police, Victor Zanabriahe said today that the order of suspension for 18 months against him, issued by a judge of Arequipa, is “inapplicable” because that resolution has not been notified to those who appointed him in the position, President Dina Boluarte.
Zanabria offered this morning a press conference surrounded by generals of the garrison of Lima, after last night the ruling required by the Prosecutor’s Office investigated for corruption was known.
“What stability are we giving to the institution? What precedents are we generating? In addition, my person is notified that I have to be separated, but who designates the general commander of the Police is the supreme chief, the president of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, who must be notified and she will make the decision on the direction of our institution,” he said.
The PNP chief warned that the resolution has errors that make it inejecutable, since it refers to him as head of the police operations command, when that position is occupied by General Carlos Céspedes.
“The one who is suspended is General Céspedes, head of the Police Operations Command, because so says the resolution, and not the General Commander Víctor Zanabria Angulo, a material error in a judicial provision of that level makes it inapplicable, then we suppose they will correct it in ten days, but I am going to the withdrawal by the empire of the law,” he said.
In that line, he said that he only has a police activity for 18 days. “I am proud, I am a policeman who has always sought the good of his staff,” he said.
The Sunday Panorama collected the declaration of the largest PNP Claudia del Castillo, former head of the Arequipa Green Squadron, who told the Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office that he received direct orders from Zanabria, when he was head of the Arequipa police region in 2020, so that police officers were officially complying with patrol work on foot, carry out construction work in the chapel Police
According to the statement, the then police chief requested personnel with knowledge in masonry, electricity or gasfiteria, indicating that they would be assigned under the role of patrol.
In addition, the testimony of Claver Colquehuanca, a mason teacher of the work, reinforced the tax hypothesis about the alleged diversion and improper appropriation of funds in the police remodeling work.
According to his statement before the Public Ministry, he received a transfer of more than 17 thousand soles – which exceeded what was agreed – and, by consulting for the difference he told General Zanabria: “This amount does not correspond to me.” The officer for his part replied: “Do not worry, you make the collection of what corresponds to you and the rest you give it to me.”
