The Anti-Corruption Division of the PNP (Dircocor) together with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, they managed to arrest the deputy criminal prosecutor of Miraflores, Henry Amenábarwho asked a defendant for the sum of 20 thousand dollars to file the complaint against him for fraud.
“This prosecutor has been calling him on a series of occasions and He met him in a cafe in San Borja with the purpose of inviting him to pay him 20 thousand dollars to help him in this investigation,” said the PNP representative.

However, prosecutor Amenábar did not expect that the accused would go to the Police to report the bribery of which he was a victim and would be arrested the moment he received the money. “I had promised to file the complaint without a trial,” said the police general.

Amenábar was part of emblematic cases related to former president Alan García, Odebrecht, among others. He has joined the Special Team of Prosecutors that is dedicated to investigations linked to crimes of corruption of officials and related crimes in the so-called Lava Jato Case. Within this team, he served as Deputy Provincial Prosecutor of the Corporate Supraprovincial Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Crimes of Corruption of Officials – Special Team.
He participated in the operation to execute the preliminary arrest order against former President Alan García in April 2019, at which time the former president shot himself. Due to this operation, together with the prosecutor José Domingo Pérez Gómez, a preliminary investigation was opened ex officio for alleged administrative infractions in the proceedings.
