PN says it located more than 250 people reported missing in 2022

PN dice localizó más de 250 personas reportadas desaparecidas en 2022

The National Police reported that it located at least 253 people safe and sound, whose relatives had reported as missing on different dates from January to December 2022.

A report issued by that police unit, belonging to the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM), indicates that among the people found, there are 86 minors, ages ranging from three months of birth to 17 years.

Also, a total of 44 middle-aged people were found, aged between 60 and 92 years. Many of them were located wandering on public roads, or admitted to health centers.

Most of the minors reported are female, who left their parents’ house in an unknown direction, resulting in some adolescents being located at the homes of relatives, friends, and in some cases they had gone to live with their boyfriends.

In the cases when the disappearances were reported against children under 10 years of age, including babies, it was due to the fact that some mothers left with them for various parts of the country without informing their close relatives, for which days later they reported via telephone that they were well at the house of relatives.

Also, in the same period, a dozen of those reported were found dead in different circumstances.

Meanwhile, work continues to locate another 62 people, who were duly reported by their relatives to the Division of Investigation and Search for Missing Persons of the National Police.
