PUERTO PLATA.- The commander of the Northern Regional Directorate of the National Police in this district, General Jorge Luis Galán Guerrero, urged the population to act with caution during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
“Dear citizens of Puerto Plata and all those who visit us, during this time of festivities, we want to remind you of the importance of security to enjoy a safe and happy Christmas, New Year and Three Kings Day,” he said.
The senior police officer warned that under no pretext will he allow the alteration of peace, order and peaceful coexistence in “La Novia del Atlántico” and therefore he has instructed the personnel under his command to be strict with compliance with legal regulations.
Galán Guerrero recommended that the population, if they use public transportation, verify that the vehicle unit is safe and authorized. Furthermore, when driving vehicles or motorcycles, they must be careful, respect traffic rules and signs, always using the seat belt and protective helmet.
He asked to refrain from carrying a large amount of cash, take care of his mobile phone (cell phone) and wallet in public places. Do not accept rides or rides from strangers. Do not leave valuables in the vehicle and do not accept drinks or food from unknown people.
He also urged citizens, if they go on a trip, not to publish their absence on social networks since that unleashes the greed of antisocials and to verify in their residence that the doors and windows are properly closed and secured.
In that same order, the commander of the police station in this region emphasized that people should have virtual security online, avoid clicking on suspicious or unknown links and not share personal or financial information online.
He harangues the military and police
Likewise, General Jorge Luis Galán Guerrero had words of praise for the police officers and military personnel, whom he recognized during this time of festivities for their hard work and dedication to maintaining security and order in our communities.
It meant that the daily work and without vacations of the uniformed personnel (guards and police) is essential to guarantee that everyone in Puerto Plata and in the country can enjoy these festivities safely in healthy and peaceful coexistence.
Likewise, he reminded police officers and military soldiers that their presence and commitment are essential to prevent crimes and respond in a timely manner and immediately to any emergency call that may occur.
“We are proud of you, which is why you must maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity and respect for the community. Thank you for your service and dedication in favor of the Homeland!”, stressed General Galán Guerrero.
