The Rio de Janeiro Military Police has a special public security scheme involving the movement on the beaches and the LGBTI+ Pride Parade.
Around 1,360 military police officers work in Operation Summer, which reinforces policing throughout Rio’s coastline and coastal cities in the state. Part of this staff will also be mobilized extraordinarily to act before, during and after the LGBTQIAP+ Pride Parade, scheduled for Sunday afternoon (23) on Avenida Atlântica, in Copacabana,
There is also reinforcement on the Novo Rio Bus Station and on the expressways. For Operation Summer, almost a thousand military police officers will be employed on the Rio waterfront alone. The patrolling of the coast, as well as Sunday’s parade, will be supported by aircraft from the Airmobile Group (GAM), equipped to transmit images in real time to the command center.
Special operation
The Road Policing Command is carrying out a special operation on state highways until Sunday (23), with intensified patrolling, in order to ensure a smooth return journey and a safe journey on the roads. More than 60 police officers will be employed per day, in addition to patrolling on motorcycles, positioned in sections with greater traffic and risk of retention.
According to the Rio Alert System, throughout this Saturday (22), the weather in Rio will continue without major changes compared to previous days. The sky will be with few clouds, with a predominance of partly cloudy skies and no rain is expected. Winds will be weak to moderate and temperatures will be stable and high, with a predicted minimum of 18°C and a maximum of 35°C.
