Military Police lieutenant Fernando Genauro da Silva, aged 33, was arrested in Osasco this Saturday morning (18), being investigated for allegedly being the driver of the vehicle used to escape the gang that executed Vinícius Gritzbach, a PCC whistleblower, at the Airport São Paulo International last year. To date, 16 military police officers have been arrested for their involvement in the case.
Gritzbach was accused of involvement in money laundering schemes for the faction. In the plea bargain signed with the Public Ministry, he gave the names of people linked to the PCC and also accused police officers of corruption.
After the arrest, which is temporary (30 days), the PM was taken to the headquarters of the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP), in the capital of São Paulo. After the formalization of the arrest, he will be taken to the Romão Gomes Military Prison (PMRG).
The Military Police Internal Affairs Department arrested, on Thursday (16), another 15 military police officers suspected of involvement in the crime, 14 of them for illegally escorting the victim, and one identified as the author of the shots that killed Gritzbach. Furthermore, on the same day, the DHPP arrested the girlfriend of the suspect identified as the “scout” who resulted in the man’s death. She is also involved in drug trafficking.
On Friday (17), a 22-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of participating in the homicide. The suspect is being investigated for having a relationship with the scout, who is on the run. He had been arrested in December by police officers from Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar (Rota), but was released at a custody hearing.
