Pluzito: "Hip-hop is a philosophy that allows you to transform your reality"

pluzitoone of the curators of MICA Freestyle to be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Tecnópolis property, told Télam that “hip-hop is a philosophy of life” that “allows you to transform your reality” and even “contribute to your community.”

When talking with Télam before the arrival of this second edition of the festival, the activist and reference of that culture -with more than two decades behind him occupying such diverse roles- will speak about the “more philosophical and spiritual” side of hip-hop, focusing on the search for “a purpose” and “why one does what they do”.

“Hip-hop is a lifestyle that can enhance your health, your love and even your wealth,” said the activist and cultural agitator, Visible face of FMS Argentina as “host” and “caster” of Red Bull Argentina.

About the organization of MICA freestylingfestival of the hip-hop sector in charge of the Ministry of Culture of the Nation -through the Secretariat of Cultural Development and the National Directorate of Cultural Industries-, Pluzito highlighted the level of participation of the “references and activists of the scene , all very diverse and from different generations” for the launch of the meeting: “There is a fairly serious job and really committed to the scene”, he said.

In their two days, from November 19 and 20will offer a varied program of live shows, freestyle battles, sector talks and workshops dedicated to professionalizing the sector and promoting talent throughout the country.

“This year I am seeing again that there are boys and girls who will travel by plane for the first time to come to this festival for having won the contest. In the 20 years that I have been in culture, I see that these details can change your life in terms of motivation and the perspective of how much what you do is worth”, he reflected on the Urban Music Contest, another of the attractions of an edition that “ Argentina is positioned as a pioneer in taking hip-hop so seriously”.

Among the clinics, aimed at producers, freestylers and entrepreneurs, the presence of a legend of the improvised bars like Tata, “one of the most recognized freestylers in Spanish-speaking”according to the authorized word of Pluzito.

“There will be workshops to ‘host’ and ‘cast’ battles, to be a jury, to produce battles in squares up to international events of the FMS level. The idea is to insert people a little more into the labor market and to break down the classic prejudice that artists starve to death,” he pointed out.

“Hip-hop is a lifestyle that can enhance your health, your love and even your wealth”

The explosion of urban music in Argentina shows that “we can do it” because today artists who “before were in a square or in a room with a computer” shine, although he also warned that in this industry “not everything is rosy” and that “this is also a job”.

“It’s not just about rapping, making a stereotypical video for the algorithm and all figured out. It is about how to insert yourself into that labor market, generate your own opportunities and ventures linked to hip-hop”, he advanced about one of the axes that he will discuss in his talk on Sunday entitled “Represent: hip-hop as a philosophy of life”.

For Ale Pluz, the development of culture in Argentina “will last as long as we take care of it” to avoid the same thing happening as with other musical cultures: “We saw what happened with rock and roll, for example. And it’s not a criticism because they say so. If after two minutes we’re doing well we think we’re a ‘rockstar’ then this can last very little. You have to work, be responsible, professional and constant for this to last like in the United States, where next year culture will be fifty years old”.

With a plural and federal scope, the event -free and open access- will be broadcast through the Ministry’s Twitch channel, simultaneously with the Tecnópolis YouTube channel, including presentations on the main stage by Acru (Saturday) and T&K (Sunday), two rappers “very respected and endorsed both in mass recognition and also by the underground and by the strictest people in rap”completed the interviewee.
