The PLRA Board of Directors approved the use of the Permanent Civic Registry padron for party inmates. However, for Carlos María Ljubetic, this will bring a series of drawbacks.
During a meeting held on Thursday night, the PLRA Board of Directors gave the green light for the expanded registry to be used in its inmates. This means that both affiliates and non-affiliates will be able to vote in the liberal elections.
“This decision was already made when Mario Ferreiro was a candidate and in the face of this situation, the Colorado Party took legal action,” he told 1020 AM Ljubetic, Director of electoral processes of the Superior Court of Electoral Justice (TSJE), thus highlighting that the decision taken will unleash a series of inconveniences that are not being analyzed.
For his part, former senator Dionisio Amarilla, leader of the “Blue Dialogue” movement, said that the Liberal Party is exposed to a “fierce challenge” because its president, Efraín Alegre, made the board of directors approve the use of the voter registration list in party elections. Permanent Civic Registry, affirming that article 33 of the Electoral Code is very clear in this regard.
Said article states in one part that “to be a party’s candidate for any elective office, it is a requirement to be elected by the direct, free, equal and secret vote of the members.”
