In the morning hours of Tuesday, Kattya González, national deputy for the National Encounter party (PEN) and candidate for the Senate for the National Encounter Alliance (AEN), questioned, in radio media, that the Liberal Party (PLRA) seeks to use the open register for its parliamentary interns. This was reaffirmed through a note published on her social networks during siesta hours.
Said posting can be considered as “the straw that broke the camel’s back” for the liberal leaders. In the afternoon, representatives of the PLRA posted a note claiming González’s statements. In the first place, they denied that there is a legal impediment for the PLRA to use the national registry in its inmates. But the most convincing thing was in the last paragraph, when the liberal proxies accused González of being functional to mafia structures with his unfortunate statements.

Kattya González, national deputy for the PEN, in an interview with Ñanduti AM, warned that if the leadership of the Concertación does not give up its intentions of being an “inquisitorial court”, the only thing they achieve is to reduce the chances of the Concertación to be alternating in 2023. To make these criticisms, one must have sufficient moral authority. This is beyond the possibilities of these groups that do not know how to manage the differences of opinion generated by their own behavior. They must mature and reorient these political practices in order to have a superior democratic coexistence and offer an atmosphere of more camaraderie”, she emphasized.

Marlene Orué, representative of the PLRA, pointed out that they only wanted to clarify the questioning of González. On the last paragraph of the note, she stated that she was not called the mafia deputy. “We don’t think she’s a mobster. But since the beginning of the Concertación, she has always attacked the party with reasons such as the impeachment issue, but it is the first time that we have answered her”, she maintained.
González requested a public apology for what he described as an “unfortunate” communiqué from the PLRA. On this, Orué announced that he will not apologize. “We are going to continue talking and conversing, ideas are debated. I can’t apologize for a conquest. You don’t have to be afraid of debate”, he concluded.
