SANTO DOMINGO.-The five regular members of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), as well as their substitutes, seek to renew their positions or, in the case of non-regulatory members, occupy a senior position. This was reported by the president of the Senate commission that works on the recruitment of candidates and that, subsequently, will make the site evaluations to recommend to the plenary session of senators, Julito Furcal.
He revealed that to date, some 101 people had formally registered to be evaluated using digital channels, as well as in-person.
“The deadline to receive files expires tomorrow at twelve midnight and during the 4th and 5th of October, we will be pre-classifying the files,” said Furcal.
He explained that they will then proceed to make the list of applicants publicly known in national newspapers and that the evaluations will begin on the 14th of this month of October 2024.
He ruled out any clashes with the work that the National Review Assembly will carry out to modify the Constitution and indicated that if this were the case, they would adjust the calendar taking into account that the work to reform the Constitution will not be so extensive, since the greatest consensus will be produced in the bicameral commission that studied the need for reform.
The JCE is made up of five regular members and its positions are currently occupied by Román Jáquez, its president; Rafael Armando Vallejo Santelises, Dolores Altagracia Fernández Sánchez, Patricia Lorenzo Paniagua and Samir Rafael Chami Isa.
While the substitute members are Vanahí Bello Dotel, Prado López Cornielle, Freddy Ángel Castro Díaz, Anibelca Rosario Rosario and Hirayda Fernández Guzmán.
