The Plenary of Congress did not admit -by majority- to debate the motions of censure presented against its president, Maria del Carmen Alva (People’s Action). In addition, the censorship against the third vice president did not prosper either Patricia Chirinos (Country advances).
The first motion of censure debated by the national representation sought to remove Alva Prieto and the first vice president, Lady Camones (Alliance for Progress), from the Board of Directors.
The support was given by Álex Flores (Perú Libre), who stated that the members of the Board of Directors do not have the quality of consensus, but they do “intolerant anti-democratic attitudes”. Ultimately, the motion was dismissed with 70 votes against, only 36 in favor, and 6 abstentions.

Later, a second motion of censure was debated, this time only against María del Carmen Alva, who was accused of having attacked the popular will and the rule of law.
This last motion was presented by Democratic Peru, Free Peru and Roberto Sánchez, legislator of Together for Peru and Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur). In this case, it was also rejected with 70 votes against, 35 in favor and 4 abstentions.
Patricia Chirinos
On February 21, Peru Libre and Peru Democrático also filed a motion of censure against Patricia Chirinos alleging that their “False statements given abroad damage the image of our country”.
“His behavior does not conform to the respect, ethics and tolerance with which a senior official of the Congress of the Republic must act”, the document reads.
However, the Plenary also did not admit the motion of censure to debate after accounting for 70 votes against, 37 in favor and 11 abstentions. In this way, the initiatives against the members of the Board of Directors will go to the file.
