PLD will take Amparo Custodio’s swearing-in before TSE

La Vega.- The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) of La Vega announced that it will take the swearing-in of the new mayor, Professor Amparo Custodio, before the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) and the Constitutional Court, after understanding that municipal laws and the Magna Carta were violated with said decision, assumed by the Chapter House with the approval of the majority of councilors.

Custodio’s swearing-in occurred before concluding a case in which an appeal for protection filed by the PLD in the First Commercial and Civil Chamber chaired by Judge Ylonka Esperanza Brito was being heard.

After the swearing-in of Custodial Protectionat 11:10 in the morning, then the ruling of Judge Ylonka Brito was issued, where she declared the appeal for protection null and void and which sought to prevent the inauguration of the new vegan mayor.

Likewise, Judge Brito reported that the complete device of her sentence will be read on Wednesday, the 20th of this year at 2 in the afternoon.

José Ángeles Ulerio, lawyer-legal representative of the PLD in the local council conflict, and councilor Raymond Núñez, reported that the high levels of the PLD will take the case before the Superior Electoral Court and the Constitutional Court.

During the hearing of the appeal for protection, Judge Brito granted a period of 30 minutes to summon all the vegan councilors, 17 in total, but this did not occur, so she decided to continue hearing it, despite the fact that some of them The lawyers representing some councilors and Amparo Custodio herself had requested to postpone the trial.

The president of the Chapter Chamber or Council of Ediles, Esteban García, was in charge of the swearing-in of the new mayor, Mrs. Amparo Custodio, and her deputy, Mr. Amado Gómez.

Mr. Octavio Martínez, who was Mr. Gómez’s substitute, also took over as the new councilor of the local City Council.

Of the 17 councilors that the Vegan Council has, 12 belong to the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), and its allies with the Frente Amplio, while the PLD has two and the People’s Force three.

After her swearing-in, Amparo Custodio declared that as a teacher she would never agree to participate in something illegal, which is why she understands that her swearing-in does not violate any of the current laws of the Dominican Republic.

The municipal crisis broke out after its owner, Kelvin Cruz, resigned to take office as the new Minister of Sports, and later also resigned from her position as vice-mayor, teacher Amparo Custodio.

Both the PLD and the People’s Force came to propose that new elections should be held to choose a new mayor.
