The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) today asked the authorities to investigate the irregularities reported at the National Student Welfare Institute, especially those related to tenders.
In its customary press conference on Monday, the entity indicates that in 2021, during the school lunch bidding process, that entity irregularly awarded contracts to more than 1,260 suppliers.
Johnny Pujols, general secretary of the purple party, asked President Luis Abinader to instruct comprehensive, public investigation and with defined schedule on the processes questioned in INABIE.
“That investigation must involve the competent state bodies for such purposes, and must culminate in the full publication of the files and in the determination of responsibilities,” he said.
The political leader said that between 2023 and 2025, suppliers have filed complaints and even complaints for bribes and arbitrary exclusions in school lunch tenders.

Pujols said that in 2025, the General Directorate of Public Contracts and the Anti -Fraud Unit of the Comptroller General of the Republic reported the discovery of serious irregularities in the purchases of uniforms, backpacks and school shoes, for amounts greater than RD $ 6,000 million pesos.
“These findings forced to annul and reassess contracts, and to send files to the Public Ministry for violations of the Purchasing and Contracting Law and the Internal Control Law,” he said.
The Yellow Star Party recalled that the school feeding program delivers more than one billion rations to more than two million students and personnel at 7,033 educational centers.
“Any shadow of corruption in this program directly affects the nutrition of children,” added Pujols.
