PLD rejects the reduction of 4% of GDP to education

SANTO DOMINGO.- The general secretary of the Dominican Liberation Party, Charles Mariotti, declared that the position of that organization will be one of total radical opposition to the Executive Power’s claims to reduce 4% to Education.

Mariotti was approached on the subject when he offered the details of the meeting of the Political Committee on Monday to the representatives of the media at the Casa Nacional Reinaldo Pared Pérez.

He considered it unwise that in the midst of claims from hundreds of unfinished school campuses and with a deficit of more than ten thousand teachers in the educational system, the Executive instructs to remove more than 4 billion pesos from Education.

In this sense, he recalled that former President Danilo Medina in his campaign promised to allocate 4% to Education and when he assumed the Presidency of the Republic and he did so, assuming his commitment as a flag.

“Former President Danilo Medina was a standard-bearer of 4 percent to Education, which was a claim of Dominican society,” he said and from his Government he executed that mandate.

The PLD general secretary said that in the government of President Danilo Medina, almost 22,000 classrooms were built, in addition to the construction of daycare centers, extended shift days, breakfast, lunch and school snacks, among other achievements.

Former Ministers of Education Melanio Paredes and Carlos Amarante Baret spoke out against the Government’s intentions to reduce the Education Budget, as did Francisco Domínguez Brito, former Vice President Margarita Cedeño, Abel Martínez, and Radhamés Camacho, all members of the Committee PLD politician, organisms that exhausted this Monday the ordinary meeting corresponding to September.

Public consultation

In another order, Mariotti specified that the Citizen Consultation organized by the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and that has October 16 as the date for its realization, “is going very well excellently on track.”

Mariotti, in the company of Tommy Galán, Alexis Lantigua and José Dantes Díaz, summarized the conclusions reached at the meeting held at the Casa Nacional Reinaldo Pared Pérez, with the presence of 42 of the 45 members of that organization, for the representation of the media. .

The debates revolved around the implementation process of the Organizational and Electoral Line (LOE) and the organizational aspects of the Citizen Consultation to determine which of the candidates for the Presidential candidacy enjoys the highest level of sympathy in the population.

The former president of the Republic, Danilo Medina, president of the PLD, headed the meeting, who with that quality led the debates in the meeting with an ordinary meeting character, corresponding to the month of September.

Accompanying Danilo Medina in the front line of the meeting were Charles Mariotti, Secretary General, Temístocles Montás, Vice President of the PLD, former Vice Presidents of the Republic Margarita Cedeño and Jaime David Fernández Mirabal and the delegate to the Central Electoral Board, José Ramón ( Monchy) Fadul.
