Santo Domingo.– He Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) expressed concern about the alleged shortage of Petroleum liquefied gas (LPG) which affects packaging plants in Santo Domingo, which has generated a direct impact on the availability of the product for thousands of Dominicans.
Jhovanny Leyba, Secretary of Industry and Commerce of the PLD, questioned “the inaction of the government of President Luis Abinader and his silence before a crisis situation that is putting the stability of key sectors of the economy at risk.”
“It is inadmissible that packing plants in Santo Domingo are with such critical shortages, without the government taking letters in the matter. This situation is directly affecting gas supply to numerous shops and industries that depend on this resource to operate. The lack of action is a sample of the total disconnection of this government with the real needs of the country, ”said Leyba.
The PLD leader said that while gas plants are going through a supply crisis, the government has not offered clear answers or implemented an effective action plan to solve the problem.
“The silence of President Abinader and Minister Iito Bisonó in this situation is a sample of the Government’s inability to manage essential resources for the functioning of the country,” said Leyba.
The Secretary of Industry and Commerce made an urgent call to President Luis Abinader and Minister Ito Bisonó to take responsibility to the crisis and make quick decisions to prevent the situation from worsening even more.
“It is time for the government to stop speculating and start working in concrete solutions. The Dominicans cannot continue waiting as gas scarcity continues to affect the economy and well -being of the population, ”concluded Leyba.
