The Organizing Commission of the Internal Consultation of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) proclaimed last night Abel Martínez the winner of the event in which the popularity of his presidential candidates was measured with a view to the 2024 elections, obtaining 60.87% of the votes counted, compared to 20.64% for Francisco Domínguez Brito, followed by Margarita Cedeño with 16.23%.

According to bulletin number 7, issued around 10:00 pm in the 2,062 computed centers, 357,313 queries were issued, of which Martínez obtained 217,499, 60.87%; Dominguez Brito 73,745, 20.64%; Margarita Cedeno 57,987, 16.23%; Maritza Hernández 3,795 ,1.06%; Karen Ricardo 2,706, 0.76%; Luis de León 581, 0.44%, who had announced his withdrawal to support Cedeño, but his name could not be removed from the ballot.

“I want to make a stop to thank from the depths of my being, from my feeling as a Dominican, as a PLD supporter, the applicants who were in this process and who today we end this first stage with our arms around us with faith in the future, with the firm decision that in 2024 the PLD will return to power,” said Martínez excitedly in a room full of leaders of the purple party who shouted “the united PLD will never be defeated.”

He thanked the president of the PLD, Daniel Medina, to its general secretary Charlie Mariotti, to the Organizing Commission of the internal consultation for their commendable work, to the Political Committee and to the entire Party”
Domínguez Brito thanked and expressed that “the most important thing, as Mrs. Alejandrina said, is that there is unity in each one of us and that together we work so that Abel Martínez is the next president of the Republic.”

The proclamation was scheduled to take place in the courtyard of the headquarters of the PLDbut a sudden rain forced it to be held in the Bienvenido Sandoval room, where Alejandrina Germán highlighted the order and respect with which the consultation took place, with enthusiastic participation.

With the presence of three of the five aspiring pre-candidates, the coordinator of the Organizing Commission of the Consultation on Presidential Candidates (Conap), Alexandrina Germanmade Abel Martínez official as the winner of the consultation.

Germán highlighted the discipline with which the entire process was carried out from the first days until today’s selection.

Along with Abel Martínez, the political leadership of the PLD headed by Danilo Medina, Charlie Mariotti, Francisco Javier García, Francisco Domínguez Brito, among others, were present.

With 75% of the voting centers already validated, Abel Martinez is shown in front with 213,185 votes for 60.68%.

Meanwhile, Francisco Domínguez Brito 73,137 votes for 20.82% and Margarita Cedeño 57,024 votes for 16.23%.

Likewise, Maritza Hernández 3,737 votes for 1.06% and Karen Ricardo 2,672 votes for 0.76%.

Similarly, Luis de León, who had withdrawn his aspirations to support Margarita Cedeño, has 1,553 votes for 0.44%.
