SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) paid posthumous tribute to its secretary general ad-vitam, Reinaldo Pared Pérez, on the first anniversary of his death this Friday 28, with a ceremony held at the PLD national headquarters, which It bears the name of the late former president of the Senate of the Republic.
The act was presided over by the president of the PLD and former president of the Republic Danilo Medina, the general secretary Charles Mariotti, Juan Ariel Jiménez, vice president of the PLD, family and friends of Pared Pérez and a large representation of the PLD Political Committee and Central Committee.
The activity began with some reflections of a spiritual nature by Lidio Cadet, former general secretary and member of the Political Committee of the PLD, who highlighted the importance of Reinaldo’s life and work.
Sigfrido Pared Pérez, Reinaldo’s brother, spoke on behalf of the family, who began by thanking the Dominican Liberation Party for the emotional act to commemorate the first anniversary of his brother’s death.

“In these 365 days there has not been a single moment or a single place, where a person did not approach me to tell me about the virtues of our dear brother. Reinaldo had immense qualities, not only as a politician but also as a human being”, highlighted Sigfrido, former Minister of the Armed Forces.
For this and other reasons, he said that his family is proud of the career of Reinaldo Pared Pérez and the mark left on the PLD and the country.
He highlighted the love he had for his Dominican Liberation party, for his mentor Professor Juan Bosch, of whom he felt proud, and for his colleagues.
When pronouncing the central words of the act, the general secretary of the PLD, Charles Mariotti, highlighted the friendly relations and political character that united them, with their differences and frontal confrontations.
Likewise, he referred to the role that they had to play together in the Senate of the Republic, being the senator for Monte Plata and Reinaldo of the National District, as well as the modification of the 2010 Constitution and Pared Pérez presiding over the Assembly
The act of homage was not overlooked, to highlight Reinaldo’s passion for music, salsa, son, bolero. “For him the best singer was the continental voice Lucho Gatica”.
Lamenting his senseless death on October 28, 2021, he recalled that he received the news in a place accompanied by some friends, his son and Cristian Abel. “When I got the news I cried, and a lot, a lot. I did not understand or conceive of it, and they had to take me out almost the hard way, and I came to sleep here (at the National House of the PLD) to once and for all respond based on my responsibility. “I mourned his death as I celebrated his life. Reinaldo will live forever in my memory.
An audiovisual about the life of Reinaldo Pared Pérez, made by the team of the Secretariat of Communications of the photographic archives and the video library of the PLD, was exhibited in the activity.
In the end, the singer-songwriter Claudio Cohen, who confessed a sincere friendship with the late leader, performed well-known boleros with which Reinaldo identifies and listened as a lover of good music.
At the farewell, the song “When a friend leaves” by Alberto Cortez was heard in the amplification system, which filled the attendees with feeling and nostalgia.
