Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) denounced that the National District City Council would have allocated spaces for kiosks in the Pierin front of the University of the Caribbean, without the authorization of the Council of Aldermenwhich, according to them, constitutes a violation of the Law 176-07 on the National District and municipalities.
The accusation was brought by the PLD councilor Franklin Ferreras during an ordinary session held in the “Emilio Rodríguez Demorizzi” room of the capital city council.
Ferreras explained that the current municipal administration has proceeded to tender and assign these spaces unilaterallyattributing powers that correspond exclusively to the Council of Aldermenthe body legally responsible for approving any concession or use of municipal property.

“The City Council cannot allocate or rent public spaces without the proper authorization of the Council. This practice violates the law and strips this body of its legitimate powers,” Ferreras warned.
Likewise, he called on the president of the Council and the administration of the council to rectify the measurement and restore respect for legal procedures and municipal institutions.
The councilor warned that, if this practice continues, it would be creating a dangerous precedentwhich could encourage administrative discretion and weaken control and transparency mechanisms in the management of public goods.
