The exaggerated increases in the prices of basic necessities, violence and crime got out of hand for the government, affirmed this morning the member of the Political Committee of the Liberation Party (PLD), José Dantés, and the spokesman of the block of deputies of the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC), Pedro Botello.
Dantés said that in two years the government of Luis Abinader has not solved a single one of the basic problems that affect the people and that the only thing they could show are two works that are under construction, the Santiago monorail and the expansion of the Santiago Metro. Santo Domingo to Los Alcarrizos.
He criticized that the Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, is asking him for patience when their lives are in danger.
Also legal manager of the PLD He reminded Vásquez Martínez that he was not placed in office to ask citizens for patience, but to solve problems. He added that the issue of citizen security got out of hand for the government.
“The economic situation and citizen security have completely gotten out of hand because the figures in terms of insecurity have increased, they are there in the official government reports no matter how much they want to cover it up,” he said.
He added that “go out into the streets, go out to the towns, I am walking the towns, people say so, it is that they are leaving in 2024, because people have realized that two years later their economic situation is worse when it was stable before.

On his side, the reformist spokesman in the Lower House said that as the days go by, the violence and insecurity of families has increased.
He considered that the government has lost its way, because President Luis Abinader is on one side, and his officials are on the other.
“People are in the midst of uncertainty, whether it goes well or badly, those of us in the opposition see things as quite difficult and for those in government everything is going well, in the opinion of the people there is great uncertainty” , he expressed.

Botello considered that the authorities have to review the fight against violence and crime in the country.
Recently, the Institutional and Justice Foundation (Finjus) asked President Luis Abinader to convene all the representative sectors of the country to develop policies and mechanisms to deal with the alarming wave of violence and crime that plagues the Dominican Republic.
He said that the political class cannot be left out of that call because they are issues in which all sectors have to be involved.
He argued that violence has overflowed in the country and said that on many occasions it finds its causes in poverty, inequalities and lack of opportunities.
The executive vice president of Finjus, Servio Tulio Castaños Guzmán, also said that the project to reform the Penal Code is urgent because it is the only way to develop a State policy to deal with these scourges.
He argued that the present circumstances warrant that all sectors meet together with the government to specify the policies with which they can confront violence and citizen insecurity.
He regretted that 67 percent of the acts of violence that affect the country are committed while people share in public places, such as colmadones, and in friction between vehicle drivers.
