The Provincial Council of Tacna held a solemn session of posthumous homage to the agricultural engineer Tito Chocano Olivera, who in life was mayor of the city for four consecutive terms, as well as congressman and president of the Regional Government of Tacna.

The provincial mayor of Tacna, Julio Medina Castro, aldermen and local authorities were present at the ceremony. The family, represented by his son Tito Chocano Rabanal, received the distinctions of Illustrious Son and Benefactor of Tacna.
Creation of the Tacna Box
At the time, the Caja Tacna gave recognition to the former authority, for being the one who managed the creation of the financial entity, with 100% of the economic contribution, as well as for being an authority that promoted major projects for the city.
Such recognition was granted by the president of the board of directors of said institution, Jesús Arenas, in the hands of Teresa Rabanal, widow of Chocano.
They will name square or street
In his speech, Mayor Medina Castro announced that the Tacna Provincial Council will approve the designation of a street, avenue, park or square with the name of Tito Chocano Olivera.
During his lifetime, the engineer Chocano promoted the development of the Sama irrigation modernization project, the creation of the Tacna Free Trade Zone, the construction of the Costanera and Tacna Tarata highways, he built the premises of the neighborhood councils, among other important works.

It should be noted that before he died he was facing legal proceedings for alleged corruption, the most notable being the allegedly irregular payment of an arbitration award with resources from the mining canon and in a suspiciously accelerated manner. Death came before the sentence was known.
