Rodri Hernández, Manchester City midfielder, Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid right back and his teammates from the white team Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham, Tony Kroos, Kylian Mbappe and Vini Jr., appear as members of the Fifpro 2024 eleven, announced this Monday .
Rodri and Carvajal actively participated in winning the European Championship in Germany with the Spanish team, while Rudiger, Bellingham, Kroos (now retired) and Vini Junior shone by winning the Champions League, the European and Spanish Super Cups at orders of Carlo Ancelotti in the Madrid team, while Mbappe, this season already in the Santiago Bernabéu team, had to settle for the ‘local’ titles.
In total, six players from Real Madrid and four from Manchester City appear in the eleven, since in addition to Rodri, winner of the Ballon d’Or, there are the Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson, the Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne and the Norwegian striker Erling Haaland. The remaining place goes to Dutch central defender Virgil van Dijk, from Liverpool.
Carvajal, Rudiger, Ederson and Rodri make their debut in the Fifpro eleven, while Van Dijk enters for the fourth time among those chosen for a team in which the Argentine Leo Messi, now at Inter Miami, does not enter, for the first time since 2006 after having been selected 17 times.
The ideal team of the year was chosen by the vote of 28,000 footballers from 70 countries, based on the performances from August 21, 2023 to August 10, 2024, with the condition that they have played at least 20 official matches. It is the only world football award decided exclusively by the players.
