Player Javier Carabeo, sanctioned for two years without playing, manages to leave Cuba

MADRID, Spain.- The young Cuban catcher Javier Carabeo left Cuba in the last few hours. Upon leaving Cuba he had participated in five National Series.

“It is expected that he will settle in the Aztec country and carry out his free agency process there and be able to sign with a Major League organization,” the journalist specified. Frances Romero when breaking the news.

According to Romero, specialized in baseball, Carabeo is a power hitter who could impact the market. He can play just as much at first base, in the outfield as he does as a catcher.

Carabeo, 23, from Mayabeque, was sanctioned for two years without playing baseball in Cuba for trying to leave the Ramada hotel, along with his partner Yulián Quintana, where they were staying in Aguascalientes, Mexico, during the U-23 Pan American Championship in Baseball last June.

In this competition Javier Carabeo was the best of the national team and became the first Cuban to hit 3 home runs in this type of event.

In November 2021, the player was not called up to the Junior Pan American in Barranquilla, Colombia, despite his results.

To participate in the aforementioned championship in Aguascalientes, the Cuban authorities demanded that he hand over his blue passport until he was back in Cuba.

“With the spectrum closed in Cuba, it was obvious that a hitter of his caliber would try to leave Cuba and seek a future away from the Island,” Romero said.

Just a few days ago it transpired that the young pitcher Yadier Batista had left the Island and was in the Dominican Republic.

A few days before it became known that the renowned former pitcher Angel Pena, he was making the usual Central American migratory journey to reach the United States.
