Platforms describe the murder of a child by his father as “vicarious feminicide”

SLP, Mexico.- The feminist platforms YoSíTeCreo in Cuba and the magazine’s Gender Observatory Tense Wings they qualified as “vicarious feminicide” the murder of the child Edgar Aliesky Martínez Torres by his father in a town in the municipality Minesin the province of Camagüey, and raised the number of verified femicides in Cuba to 51.

The confirmation comes a day after independent Cuban media reported that Aliesky Martínez Ferrer, a resident of the town of San Ignacio, in Minas, killer his 5-year-old son, Edgar Aliesky Martínez Torres, and later attacked a pregnant woman.

“An event of this magnitude indicates the severity that femicidal violence has reached in the face of the inaction of the authorities and the complicit silence of international organizations,” he wrote. Tense Wings in a social media statement.

Vicarious feminicide is defined as feminicide in which the aggressor kills a third person, children or other family members, to make the victim suffer.

“We owe a debt to Edgar Aliesky and all the boys and girls who have suffered the most terrible of deaths,” the platforms said.

In the statement, they mentioned seven minors who have died in Cuba since 2019, victims of vicarious violence.

In two of the cases the murderer was the biological father of the victims and in the rest they were stepfathers or ex-stepfathers.

Carlos Duviel Sánchez Estévez, 10 years old; Yodeisi Fabelo Carballo’s daughter, 7 years old; Eriday Soto Martínez’s baby, 5 months old; Yaliannis Falls Espinosa, 2 years old; Rachely Guerra Espinosa, 5; Yulia Lía Romero Camejo, one year old, and Dilan Osmel Valdés Pompa, one year old, make up the sub-registry of vicarious violence prepared by feminist platforms.

The news of the murder of Edgar Aliesky Martínez Torres, initially appeared on the Facebook page “Crimes in Cuba”, indicates that the little boy was in the care of his maternal grandmother when his father picked him up and later committed the crime.

The atrocious infanticide occurred in the town of San Ignacio, in Minas. Aliesky Martínez Ferrer would have hanged his own son and then, while fleeing, he would have beaten a pregnant woman, abused from her and would have stolen her cell phone.

The woman is hospitalized in the Maternal Hospital of Camagüey and the aggressor was a fugitive from justice.

According to the testimony offered by residents of San Ignacio, the man had tried to murder his ex-partner some time ago, after she decided to end the relationship.
