The platform is in operation National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumidor) which allows families, through a price comparison in different commercial establishments, to save between 8% and 25% on purchases.
The Dominican Price Information System (SIDIP 3.0) tool, http://sidip.gob.do, allows you to compare prices of basic products in real time, including food and medicine, as well as household appliances and construction materials.
The system integrates information from supermarket chains, pharmacies and hardware stores.
By participating in the TODAY’S Economic Meetingthe executive director of Pro Consumidor, Eddy Alcántara and the person in charge of Information and Communication Technology, Yasser Matos Lara, explained that the platform was created after the institution realized the need to create a strategy or tool that would allow the “ordinary citizen” to make use of the data in relation to the price surveys that Pro Consumidor constantly carries out and that were uploaded in PDF format on the website, without any use for the population.
He added that the best way to present this price information was through a tool that made it easier for consumers to see it in real time.
In addition, the platform is fed by data available in the digital applications of the businesses themselves and includes hardware stores and pharmacies.
They announced that by March the platform will be relaunched, with the aim of making the population nationwide aware of its availability, which will represent significant pocket savings for consumers.
