The 99 Individual Transport Application Company announced investments in the country of R $ 1 billion to expand its service platform. The announcement was made during a meeting of Vice-President and Minister of Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, with Global Director of Didi´s International Business Group, 99 controller, Stephen Zhu, on Wednesday (16).
The expansion of the platform will also house the future 99foodof food deliveries. Thus, 99 adds the new service to others that the platform already promotes, case of individual transportation, orders and personal finance management (99pay).
“This investment reflects our long -term commitment to Brazil,” said Stephen Zhu.
For Alckmin, “the announcement of 99 investments in Brazil shows that President Lula’s commitment to a stable economic environment, in a moment of uncertainty worldwide, is generating positive results for the country.”
99food should start working for consumers, restaurants and delivery in mid -year. The company operates in over 3,300 cities worldwide, with 1.5 million drivers, motorcyclists and accredited delivery. The company’s growth was 125% last year.
Motorcycle taxi
Platform 99, like Uber, are waging a legal battle with the City of São Paulo to provide mototaxi services in the city. Mayor Ricardo Nunes is contrary to the initiative, arguing the security issue of users, so much so that he released Decree No. 62.144/2023, suspending the performance of the service.
The Brazilian Association of Mobility and Technology (AMOBITEC), which represents the platforms, disagrees that applications are responsible for any increases in motorcycle traffic accidents.
In the latest chapter of the judicial fight, the 8th Public Finance Court of the State of São Paulo decided to invalidate the municipal decree. But the service is still suspended for an injunction of January this yeardelivered in the second instance in the Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJSP).
