Plastics for Toys 2026 exceeds four million bottles collected

Plásticos por Juguetes 2026 supera los cuatro millones de botellas recolectadas

Santo Domingo.– The Mayor of the National District reported that during the sixth edition of Plastics for Toys were collected 4,023,865 plastic bottlesin a day held this Sunday at the Municipal Palace, which took place in an organized manner and under strict security measures.

With this amount, the program reaches a cumulative total of more than 37 million bottles, adding to the 33 million collected in previous editions of Plastics for Toys and Plastics for Schoolchildren, consolidating itself as the most far-reaching initiative in terms of environmental awareness in the Dominican Republic.

During the activity, the mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejiaexpressed his satisfaction with the realization of this sixth version of the program and highlighted the positive impact it has on the boys and girls who participate in the exchange. He pointed out that the happiness reflected on the faces of the minors upon receiving their toys motivates the entire team involved in organizing the event.

Likewise, he valued the support of the private sectorwhom he thanked for his contribution to the celebration of Plastics for Toys 2026and invited recognition of the collective effort that makes the initiative possible.

In this context, the mayor gave recognition, on behalf of the Mayor’s Office of the National District, to representatives of Propagas, Banco Popular, Banreservas, Café Santo Domingo and Banco BHDfor their sustained support to different editions of the program as allies of the city.

To guarantee order, safety and well-being of attendees, more than 350 troops They provided assistance during the day. The operation included aerial surveillance in the lines, a tent for lost children, a mobile hospital, ambulances and rescue teams.

Members of the security team participated in the security device. National Police, Dominican Republic Navy, Quiet City Joint Task Force, Digestett, Civil defense, DN Fire Department, National Emergency Assistance and Security System 9-1-1, Red Cross, Municipal Police, Directorate of Out-of-hospital Emergency Care Services, Defense and Use of Public Spacesas well as private security personnel.
