Madrid Spain.- An Airbus A330-343 plane, from the Spanish airline World2fly, was forced to return to the Humberto Delgado airport in Lisbon, Portugal, from where it had left this Saturday for the resort of Varadero, Cuba.
Due to the fact that the wheels did not position themselves as they should when taking off, due to a problem in the landing gear, the plane had to go around several times for almost two hours to spend fuel and with it reduce risks during landing.
After this maneuver, the passenger plane touched down normally. The flight, which had initially left at 4:36 p.m. (Lisbon time), took off again for Cuba at 9:05 p.m. (Lisbon time).
According to information from the Spanish news agency EFE, the airline indicated that the landing had not been considered an emergency and that a report would be made to determine what failed in the landing gear.
World2Fly, owned by the Iberostar tourism group, began direct flights between Lisbon and Varadero on June 1, on a weekly basis. The airline also operates Madrid-Havana flights, which began on September 23, 2021.
A early May Last week, the airline World2Fly announced that it intended to increase its weekly flights between Spain and Cuba to five.
In addition to flying to the island, the Spanish company, based in Palma de Mallorca, covers routes between Madrid and Caribbean tourist destinations such as Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and Cancun (Mexico).
This year World2Fly is expected to expand its operations to destinations such as Barbados, Orlando, Las Vegas, Boston, Puerto Vallarta, Washington, San Francisco, Seychelles and Uzbekistan.
