Hiring a specialized company for solid waste management; plantation of 300 ipês; and training, sensitization and awareness of the servers of the Palácio do Planalto. These are the main measures foreseen in the Sustainability Program of the Presidency of the Republic (Sustainable PR), which culminated in today (3) with the planting of a last ipê in one of the parking lots of the palace complex.
The measures were provided for in Ordinance No. 147, published in Official Diary of the Union on April 1 by the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic. It creates the program with the aim of promoting institutional initiatives that seek “social, environmental and economic integration, involving work processes such as waste management; purchases and contracts that adopt sustainability criteria; and training, sensitization and awareness of civil servants of the Presidency of the Republic”.
Today, during the planting ceremony of the 300th ipê, in the parking lot of the Planalto Palace annex, the secretary general of the Presidency of the Republic, General Luiz Eduardo Ramos, recalled that “sustainability is a principle and a constitutional value”.

Among the sustainable actions implemented in the palace, he highlighted the natural well of water for use and reuse, as well as the hiring of a company to implement the strategic plan for solid waste management.
“Our management also seeks to engage servers, which includes a poll to choose a logo [para o PR Sustentável]”, he said.
The executive secretary of the General Secretariat, Mário Fernandes, stated that, among the functions of the portfolio, is the management of the Presidency’s assets, which includes managing people and natural heritage. “We are parking the last seedlings. And we avoid using printed paper,” he explained.
The Secretary of Administration of the Presidency of the Republic, Clóvis Félix, informed that the Presidency’s workshops and gas stations also participate in the actions, and have taken care to prevent oil tailings from entering the water table.
