The Power of attorney will dictate sentence against the congressman William Bermejo (Democratic Peru) for the crime of affiliation to terrorism next Monday, January 31 at 4:00 pm.

In his final speech, Red Bermejo said it is known “innocent”, what have the “clear conscience”, regardless of the decisions to be made by the Power of attorney, and that he trusts the impartiality of the court itself.
“I would like to add, regarding the process itself, that it has become quite clear that two lies with which this trial began have been proven once again. The famous video with the Quipe Palomino does not exist and neither does the subjugation act. I think that at first, if they had been honest, this trial would not even have started.”, he underlined.
“There have been witnesses – that the Supreme requested so much that they be valued and participate in this process – who have declared that the Police have manipulated them when it comes to testifying and this is embarrassing”, he added.
The legislator also mentioned that he has worked with self-defense committees that have fought luminous path, who wrote and gave presentations at a national and international level against the terrorist group and remarked that his “criminal fanaticism” Y “egocentrism” are not compatible with the values of the “real left wing people”.
“They had an insanity with whom we from the left defend, which are the peasants and the working classes. I am a man of the left, I always have been, I hope to God I always will be, but I would never be on the side of criminals like those of Sendero Luminoso”, sentenced.
As is recalled, the Public Ministry requested 20 years in prison against William Bermejo after being accused of belonging and terrorist affiliation to the remnants of Vraem’s Light Path, between 2008 and March 2009.
According to the accusation, the parliamentarian traveled several times in an “conscious and voluntary” to subversive camps to clandestinely meet with Víctor Quispe Palomino, comrade “José”, “Martín” or “Iván”; with Jorge Quispe Palomino, comrade “Raúl”; and with other members of the Shining Path group.
The prosecution maintains that Red Bermejo he attended these meetings in order to receive ideological and political indoctrination and in the use of firearms. The parliamentarian would even maintain links with foreign terrorist organizations to make their so-called armed struggle known.
