Judge Raúl Justiniano, of the Eighth Preparatory Investigation Court of the National Court, decided to reschedule for tomorrow the hearing that evaluates the request for 18 months of preventive detention against Rocío Leandro Melgar, known as comrade ‘Cusi’.
Leandro is being investigated for the alleged crime against public peace in the form of belonging to a terrorist organization.
“In response to the request requested by the lawyers of those investigated, Judge Raúl Justiniano reschedules the continuation of the hearing for January 31 at 8:30 a.m., so that they are aware of the prosecutor’s request and elements of conviction, and can exercise adequate defense”, indicated the Judiciary on its Twitter account.
Those involved were identified as financiers of the protests against President Dina Boluarte in Ayacucho, after the departure of former president Pedro Castillo in the face of a failed coup that ended with his arrest.
Rocío Leandro was captured along with Alex Gómez Falcón, Alejandro Manay Pillaca, Estefany Alanya Chumbes, Piero Giles Gamboa, Fernando Quinto Cuba and Yulisa Gómez Ayala.
All of them belong to the Ayacucho People’s Defense Front (Fredepa), which is related to the late Senderista leader, Abimael Guzmán.
This group was detained on January 12 at the Casa del Maestro de Ayacucho, located in Huamanga.
