He Fourth National Collegiate Criminal Court He will issue a sentence this Thursday against former Communications Vice Minister Jorge Luis Cuba Hidalgo and other former officials involved in the case Lima meter.
The hearing, in person, begins at 9:00 in the morning and will be chaired by Judge Fernanda Ayasta. In that sense, the Court will resolve whether the defendants are responsible for crimes of aggravated collusion and money laundering, allegedly committed during the award of sections 1 and 2 of the Lima Metro.
According to the thesis of the Public Ministry, between 2009 and 2013 a network of public officials would have been formed that facilitated the improper favor of the Odebrecht company in exchange for bribery millionaires. The Brazilian construction company paid US $ 8 million in coimas to win the tender and Cuba would have been in charge of directing the bidding processes to benefit the firm.
Prosecutor José Domingo Pérez, a member of the Special Lava Jato team, has requested 35 years in prison for Cuba Hidalgo, as well as for others involved, such as Edwin Luyo and Mariela Huerta, while Jessica Tejada, ex -partner of the former director of Odebrecht Jorge Barata, faces a 25 -year request.
This case was one of the first to open within the framework of Odebrecht’s confession on illicit payments in various Latin American countries. The statements of effective collaborators and transfers registered in offshore accounts have been a key piece in the fiscal accusation.
