Pix breaks record and surpasses 313 million transactions in one day

The Central Bank’s (BC) instant transfer system, Pix broke a new record last Friday (5). For the first time, the modality surpassed the mark of 300 million transactions in 24 hours.Pix breaks record and surpasses 313 million transactions in one day

On the 5th alone, 313.3 million transfers were made via Pix to end users. According to the BC, the movement also broke a record in terms of money volume, with R$179.9 billion in a single day.

“The result is yet another demonstration of the importance of Pix as a public digital infrastructure for the functioning of the national economy,” the BC said in a statement.

The previous daily record had been recorded on November 28, Black Friday and the deadline for payment of the first installment of the thirteenth, with 297.4 million transactions in a single day.

Created in November 2020, Pix accumulated 178.9 million users at the end of November, according to the most recent monthly statistics. Of this total, 162.3 million were individuals; and 16.6 million, legal entities. In October, according to the most recent consolidated data, the system reached the mark of R$3.32 trillion handled.
