The head of the Piura Police Region, PNP General Manuel Farías Zapata, inreported that in the Piura region, in 2024, 62,866 security operations were carried out in different critical points of the region and 611 criminal gangs that committed their misdeeds in different areas, mainly in the provinces of Piura and Sullana, were dismantled.
The head of the Piura Police Region said that 3,994 people were detained for having an arrest warrant for various crimes. In addition, 9,366 people were arrested and 574 were minors.
The police general reported that the leaders and members of these criminal gangs are serving sentences for criminal acts, as investigations continue with other criminal gangs, since this year a total of 611 gangs have been dismantled.
Meanwhile, a total of 687 firearms and 25 edged weapons (knives) were seized. 117,666 ketes and 26,508 kilos of basic cocaine paste were also seized, as well as 186 King Sizes of cocaine hydrochloride and 7,611 kilos of the same drug. In addition to 1,669 pacos and 108,247 of marijuana.

The head of the police region reported that 4,311,098.00 soles were seized in smuggling issues, where 46,513 gallons of fuel were seized.
Likewise, he maintained that in 2024, 961 citizens of foreign nationality were intervened and 420 people of other nationalities who were illegal in the region were expelled.
Finally, the general of the National Police indicated that they have requested the transfer of more than 25 inmates from the city prison to other establishments, since threats of extortion would come from this former Río Seco penitentiary center.
