According to the Control Visit Report No. 054-2024-OCI/5987-SVC, the Institutional Control Body of the Wasi Mikuna Program detected environments for the storage of food in inadequate conditions, which would not guarantee its conservation and protection, generating risk of cross contamination, which could affect the health of users.
The inspection was carried out at the Parcemón Saldarriaga educational institutions, where a mesh gutter was evident on the warehouse floor. At the Federico Helguero Seminario school, administrative actions for fumigation of the environment were not managed in the last three months, for the control of insects. At the María Concepción Ramos school, the warehouse environment does not have windows and only has small uncovered aspects near the roof without protection; and at the Jorge Basadre educational institution, the warehouses lack cleaning, with dust found on the wall and floor, as well as food residues, papers and masks under the stretchers. Additionally, rodent droppings were detected in the cookie box.
Regarding the distribution of the seventh delivery, it was observed that, from a sample of 25 bags packed for delivery to users, the presence of the product canned fish in vegetable oil of the brand “Tuna fish” was noted, which belongs to delivery No. 5.
Likewise, the Comptroller’s Office warned that supervision of the provision of food services in educational centers is not carried out according to the frequency established by the Wasi Mikuna Program, which creates the risk of not guaranteeing physical verification of the stages of reception, storage, preparation, serving, distribution, consumption of food and management of solid waste, nor technical assistance to the School Feeding Committees.
Finally, it was evident that the products not released by Wasi Mikuna, in the Jorge Basadre school warehouse, would not guarantee their suitability, generating risk of use, preparation and consumption; which could affect users.
Here the contents of 25 bags with food were verified, in which they found the products quinoa, beans and pallar, all of the Soha brand, which were not registered in the food delivery and reception record.
For this reason, the Piura Territorial Unit of Wasi Mikuna reported that it ordered corrective actions within the deadlines indicated by the Comptroller’s Office, in response to the observations made in the user schools regarding the condition of the product storage environments, as well as food service supervision.
