The provincial deputy prosecutor José Jiménez Moscol, from the Third Office of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Crimes of Corruption of Officials (Fecof) of Piura, arrived at the delegate municipality of town center of Villa Monte Castilloin the district of Catacaos, to carry out various procedures within the framework of the preliminary investigation against Mayor Luis Alberto Cárcamo Ruiz, for the alleged commission of the crime of embezzlement to the detriment of the State.
The intervention took place yesterday morning where the staff of the Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Crimes of Corruption of Officials (Fecof) of Piura arrived at the municipal headquarters to collect relevant documentation that helps clarify the facts that are the subject of investigation that, according to what they point out, have been taking place since 2023.
The case is about the improper retention of an amount of 1,600 soles, which was money to pay workers in this municipality and, apparently, the municipal authority would have used it personally and the workers at the municipal headquarters were not paid.

It was through an extraordinary Council Session held on September 10, when the councilors of the Villa Monte Castillo commune made known this unfortunate fact that links the mayor delegate Luis Alberto Cárcamo Ruiz, who would have recognized his personal use of the money intended for other payments. Furthermore, during the proceedings, it was learned that the situation was reported by the Treasury area and registered with the Oversight Committee of this commune.
The Public Ministry personnel collected information and documentation that will facilitate the investigation and help clarify the events recorded in the municipality of Bajo Piura. The investigation continues by the Police.
