Through a statement sent by the Mypes Unidas del Perú (MUP), they indicated that weeks before the start of the Christmas campaign, this crisis would also generate unemployment and a paralysis of commercial activity.

“We ask the government to consider what is happening in the north in relation to the Christmas campaign, which is the campaign that allows MSEs to get off to a better start in 2025. If we allow the climate crisis to win over us, we will have many bankruptcies throughout the north of the country. Peru,” they indicated.

In this regard, the company Arminda Periche stated that one of the hardest hit sectors is agriculture. He also noted that tourism will be impacted by water scarcity.

“Other areas such as commerce, clothing, footwear, among others, will be seriously affected. We launch a request to the government, especially the Ministry of Production, to take extraordinary measures to not stop consumption,” he said.

On the other hand, in Lambayeque there is also concern. In this regard, the president of the MUP of the region, Esperanza Tafur, stated that the impact of the water crisis will be seen in the last agricultural campaign of this year. In this way, the consequences would be seen in 2025.
