Due to the fear that they will be attacked with bullets as happened with the Quiroga brothers and two musicians from Agua Marina, the members of the Armonía 10 orchestra of Piurathey travel and go on stage with bulletproof vests, under their suits, in the face of threats and the climate of violence generated by extortion mafias.

Giuseppe Horna, vocalist of the group from Piura, confessed that, although they smile on stage, the fear of being victims of extortion accompanies them in every performance.
“Beyond working and feeling uncomfortable, it is the extreme to which we have reached, having to go up on stage like this (with vests). We who bring joy to our audience, have to go up like this, with that method of protection. It is something very regrettable,” said Horna.
He added that what they are going through is worrying. “We are already tired, very fed up with this insecurity. It is something very sad and traumatic on a personal level, to give a show like this, with bulletproof vests. How far we have come,” said the singer of the Piura orchestra.
The company that represents them purchased bulletproof vests for the members and reinforced the presence of security personnel at each presentation. “We are already taking preventive measures for this type of concerts. The company has bulletproof vests, because we don’t know what could happen,” said Horna.
The members of Armonía 10 work and travel in vehicles with bulletproof vests as a protection tool. This, given the fear that they will be attacked as happened with their partner and vocalist Paul Flores who died after the bus they were on was shot at on March 16.
Meanwhile, the president of APDAYC, Stalin Mogollón, pointed out that the wave of extortion and hitmen that the country is going through will affect the music industry economically, because many groups are forced to have to cancel their shows for fear of suffering an attack.
He also indicated that, three days before the attack that Agua Marina suffered, he was with them and confirmed that they had a large number of private personnel for their protection, a resource that implies a significant cost.
The shooting attack against the Agua Marina de Sechura group occurred last Wednesday night, when they were offering a concert at the Chorillos military circle, in the city of Lima.
There the brothers Luis and Manuel Quiroga were injured; as well as keyboardist José More and entertainer Wilson Ruíz. All of them are recovering and are out of danger, according to the group.
