The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Elizabeth Galdo, participated in the inauguration of the II National and International Tourism Fair APAVIT Piura 2024, where she highlighted that several regions in the interior of the country have been registering a significant recovery in the flow of national travelers during the first half of 2024, in relation to the figures seen before the pandemic.

“The good news is that Piura was among the destinations with the most visitors, with 1.22 million, along with Lima, La Libertad, Arequipa and Cusco,” said Minister Galdo, adding that they are “working very intensively on national and international campaigns with the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperú) to promote travel by Peruvian and foreign tourists.”
He also said that efforts are being made to activate the country’s northern border to attract a greater flow of tourists. This is after the interest of that country and Peru in promoting cross-border tourism was made clear at the Second Meeting of Trade Ministers of the Alliance of the Americas for Economic Prosperity (APEP), held in Ecuador at the beginning of August.
“We know that Many Ecuadorian citizens come to our northern beaches. “That is why we are making the necessary arrangements to facilitate their entry into the country, so that it is more fluid and unnecessary delays are not generated,” said Minister Galdo.
In this regard, he noted that the aim is to achieve The success recorded this year in Tacna, on the southern borderwith the gastronomic fair “Peru, Mucho Gusto”, which broke attendance records, bringing together more than 85 thousand visitors, including 9,000 citizens from Chile, Bolivia and Argentina.
Projects for Piura
During the formal ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism also said that the province of Talara will have a 600 m2 tourist boardwalk, whose construction is planned for 2025It is estimated that this project, which will be implemented through the National Copesco Plan for an amount of more than nine million soles, will attract around 280,000 tourists.
